Encouraging, Listening to, Embracing and Taking Action on Student Voice
Over the last couple of weeks students and teachers have been engaging in learning experiences surrounding ‘It’s All About Us’. The main aim of this unit of work is to set up routines, expectations and classroom communities for the school year. As teachers have commenced the process of beginning to build these learning communities in their own individual classrooms, I have been considering ways Upwey Primary School can further build upon our students’ engagement and love of learning. I believe one way we can do this is by providing more opportunities for students to ‘have a say’ and demonstrate ownership over their learning and the school environment. We want our students to know their voice is valued and will be acted upon.
