CARE GROUPS

Care Groups have been established for a number of years at Upwey Primary School. The purpose of Care Groups is to create an opportunity for students from different year levels, to work together and realise they are part of a special community. Care Groups are made up of approximately 10 students and an adult leader. Students are not put into a group with their class teacher and are given the experience of working with another adult. During our 30 minute, fortnightly meetings, Care Group participants complete a number of different tasks ranging from Tribe activities to school beautification projects. The program has been very successful in creating new mixed age relationships and instilling a sense of community in all of whose who participate.
